A makeup artist on her journey to debt freedom!

Well, Here We Are

I’m a single, 36 year old licensed esthetician and free lance makeup artist without kids, that has a full-time career at a local credit union in Raleigh, NC. Over the years…since October of 2012 to be specific, I’ve managed to dig myself into a very large debt dumpster. By January of 2019 I actually looked at the numbers to find out what kind of damage I had done.

$53,924.53

That was the damage. To put this in perspective, my salary was $45,760 at the time. To say I was drowning, was an understatement. In February 2019, I started my path to debt freedom and began budgeting. It was confusing and hard initially but I was determined to make it work.

As of 12/31/2022, including several additions to my debt balance, I currently owe:

$30,402.24

Based on my calculations and current debt payoff plan, 8/21/2024 is the day I am set to pay the very last amount towards this debt. I’m ready for it to be gone.

I created this blog to document the final months of this process. The goal is to not be flaky and private and just lay it all out there. I’ll also share how I budget and spend money regularly as well as a few beauty tips here and there. It should be a blast!
