A makeup artist on her journey to debt freedom!

Money Moves Monday!

It’s another Money Moves Monday!  Today we get to see my progress over the last week and the moves I made to continue to improve my financial situation.  With that being said, grab that snack that I think is required, because I love snacking, a beverage…preferably water because summer is rapidly approaching, and we’ll get started!!!

This week’s focus was right back on my Care Credit – Credit Card.  It was slightly unexciting this week but I still got to see my balances go down.  Before my budget closed prior to pay day, I was able to gather a whopping $35 to put towards my debt from my previous paycheck.  That doesn’t sound like much but…yay me!  I always strive to pay less with my variable spending, so I can hit my goals a little quicker.  This is also the importance of closing out your budget.  If I don’t close the budget, I don’t know how much I should have left in my account that can go towards that debt.

Without further ado, here are my numbers for the past week:

Along with the $35 from my budget, I also paid $278 from my paycheck towards Care Credit to keep dropping that balance.

Let’s take a look at the overall picture for this week to see where I stand now.

Not bad right?  I’m not complaining at all!  To see my previous activity, click on the Debt Update to see how things have gone.  I’m still in the process of making my blog the way that I want it so more will happen over time.

I have an update.  My foot is still broke but my doctor said I can try to start weaning off the boot over the next month.  I have tried walking around without my boot but my foot is still swelling and I’m still experiencing pain.  I’m taking it easy for the most part but I’m also trying to get back to normal.  The doc shared the maximum time I may be like this is 4 months.  While that sucks, I’m going to try to push myself a bit.  I scheduled time off to see my family and I’ve got makeup scheduled for the end of May.  I desperately want to get back to doing makeup, so we’ll see what happens!  If this was a use it or lose it situations, I’d be screwed.

Next week will be super fun.  I have a lot happening next week and I’m going to try to space things out in a way that makes sense, so I may not share a financial education post next week but this week, I’ll try to lay it on thick since this is the last official week of Financial Literacy Month. Stay tuned in and hopefully you’ll all enjoy it!

Makeup Artist Pro-Tip:

Let’s talk primers!  This will be a long one but I promise it’s worth it.  There are so many primers available that do different things.  Primers prepare the surface for makeup application.  The options I’ve encountered are eyelash, eyelid, lip, and face primers.  Eyelash primers help make eyelashes pop, eyelid primer helps with longevity of eyeshadow/eye liner, lip primers help keep lipstick in tact to an extent, and face primers do the same as eyelid primer.

Out of all the primers available, eyelid and face are an absolute MUST.  They help maintain a look for the entire day.  Without them, our skin absorbs the product we apply or causes creasing.  When you’ve spent time on your look, you don’t want it to all go straight to hell just because you didn’t apply a base.

I’m going to highlight the 4 different primers that have served me well.  I like the Smashbox 24-hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer for a higher end option, and a dupe that I found for this is Milani Eyeshadow Primer.  The consistency for the Milani is a little creamier than the Smashbox but the finish once it’s done setting is very similar.  For the face, I use spray primers because they’re great for all skin types.  My favorites are Urban Decay All Nighter, and NYX First Base Primer Spray.  For those of you looking for options for the face, I truly hope this has helped.
