It’s Monday and it’s that time again! Before we get started, I always have to share how my week/weekend went. First and foremost, I had been waiting on the final glimmer of hope for my TMJ case to see if there was anything that could be refunded to me. There was not unfortunately, but what made me mad is my dentists office told the company working on a final negotiation said I never gave them my insurance…I TRIED TOO! I don’t like it when people speak for me and weren’t present to get the full story. Moral of this story is be very cautious with jaw issues. If it’s your medical insurance that has to get involved, try your damnedest to find a doctor who can help you (NOT A DENTIST). If only a TMJ specialist can help you and they don’t take medical insurance, you’re going to either have to pay out of pocket or suffer. I would’ve chosen to continue to suffer honestly. I’m still paying for something completely out of my control and it makes me angry to think about it. Now that the bad is out of the way, let’s talk about the good and the indifferent. Number one, I’m on PTO and I’m so excited for this break I don’t even know what to do with myself! Number two, I went ahead and pulled money from my LGFCU account to put towards my HSA. It’s not going to take care of all of my physical therapy but It will put a big dent into it and pay for the first 2 weeks. PT is sooooo expensive. Number three, I’ve officially hit “Croc bottom”. I purchased my first set of Crocs this weekend. I actually bought two pair, but I had no idea you had to try them all on and the second pair was NOT the same size as the first, and they’re too big. So I’m headed to return them today. Number four, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention what today commemorates! Today is Juneteenth, which highlights the official emancipation of slaves. The history about this process is very spotty. I tried to do my research to give a full story but wasn’t able to find much that I could share quickly. What I do know is it wasn’t a process that just happened. It took years to free all the slaves and if you know anything about share-croppers you’d know that freedom came at a hefty price, even beyond the Civil Rights movement. I highly encourage anyone to look up this very dark part of American history. Now that I’ve made a novel out of my introduction, let’s talk about how things went for this past week! Grab a drink if you haven’t already and something to snack on because we’re about to get started!
I’ve been super busy this week! All I can say is, LOOK at this progress!!!

I have not been including my numbers with the amounts that have been added to my Care Credit credit card for PT because it’s not part of my current payoff plan. I have every intention to pay the balances down with what’s left in my HSA and my Emergency Fund. Fingers crossed I’m done with PT before the month ends so I don’t murder my Emergency Fund. I haven’t built it up significantly so I don’t want to put too big of a dent in it.
With that being said, here is my current debt reality:

As long as this balance continues to go down, it will continue to be a milestone for me! Come TMJ or broken foot.
As an epilogue to today’s post, I wanted to chat a brief second about student loan forgiveness. I have a loan that has a balance of $4,915.07, which I stopped making payments towards in September of 2022. Now that the debt ceiling negotiations have come to a close, it’s even more likely that the $10k or $20k being offered for debt relief will not be offered. At the beginning of September 2023, I will resume making payments to my student loan so there will be another line item added when it comes to my monthly obligations. It would’ve been amazing to get the $10k, because it would’ve wiped this balance right out. But we all knew it was less of a possibility when it was first announced. I’ve already put the plan in place to begin repayment.
Pro-Makeup Artist/Licensed Esthetician Tip:
So we can prepare for our lives like I’ve done with physical therapy, so must you do with your face. When breakouts arise, if you have a solid regimen with non-comedogenic (non-pore clogging) products, it may be past time to change your pillow cases or pillows. Dust, mites, and pet dander live in fabrics, especially those that we sleep on regularly. If your skin becomes problematic, first try washing your pillow and pillow case. If the problem continues to persist, it may be the detergents being used for your linens and a free & clear detergent may be more ideal.
