A makeup artist on her journey to debt freedom!

Money Moves Monday – August Week 1

I had to choose this header to have Benjamin Franklin’s judgy eyes stare back at me but anyhow…I’m late posting again!!!!  So I had to whip something together really quick because I have my own personal deadlines and THEN my internet went out last night. Not just last night, ALL of last night from around 8 PM until 3 AM. I don’t have good service when I’m home so connecting my phone as a hotspot was out of the question. On to bigger things.  First!  My weekend went great!  I got to take new car out for a long car ride to see how it is on gas…for the most part.  I really need a week or two where I’m not doing other activities to try to determine how the gas mileage is but I also may need to increase my gas budget.  Also, I found out, new car insurance is going to be about $113 higher than my Rogue, I’m waiting for the bill for that but I did just pay my annual insurance on Friday.  Last, I’m grasping this extra debt I took on and am having to take on because of the mold situation with my car.  This is definitely square one again. But more on that later, let’s grab a snack and something to drink and we’ll get started!

Here is the progress I’ve made last week:

Honestly, this is the slowest week I’ve had in a while but I’ll do what I can to make up for it.  The real fun starts in the next section…

Here’s what my debt is looking like:

Ick…

Too many setbacks have occurred for me to stay on my original path.  Before the mold problem, I was debating on paying my regular monthly payment on my car to start saving and then I decided against it because I could pay it down pretty quick if I just went for it.  Now that my lower car payment is gone, my debt free journey is already extended by a year and a half, if I go straight through without coming up for air.  Once I’m done with my student loan, I’m going to focus on building up my emergency fund and then I’ll be back to paying off the car.  It’s been too long.  I started all this over 4 years ago and I need to get my savings together as soon as possible.  That will start around July of next year depending on how much I can get paid off between now and then.  The plan is to save $15k, once that is achieved and I have my sinking funds situated, I’ll hop back on the bandwagon.  I will update my savings progress during that time and 3M will happen every two weeks after I get paid.  My debt updates will only happen once a month.  My biggest hope is that I can refinance my loan with a lower interest rate, if that doesn’t happen, that is okay.

While I’m bummed that I’m not going to finish up next year like planned, I know this is going to be a good move.  Good thing is this loan is secured by property which basically means that I’m technically not in as much debt as I really am.  With that being said, stay tuned for upcoming updates!

Pro-Makeup Artist/Licensed Esthetician Tip:

This is all about eyebrows.  For those of you with thin eyebrows, do not skimp on getting them cleaned up!  Keeping your brows in check will revive your face like you wouldn’t believe.  So many women I know of don’t get their brows arched because there isn’t much there, but it makes all the difference in the world.  The next option would be to have them tinted or colored to make things a bit more permanent and makes them more prevalent.

That’s all I have for today!  Don’t forget to like, comment, subscribe to see more content from me and to share my page with someone who you think may benefit from the makeup tips or financial advice.
